If I had one wish
It would be to sit one last time by the sea feasting over dinner
to finish the laughter you ignited within me;
and to hear again those stories you penned so beautifully with your eyes.
I would gladly loiter on the sun-kissed, tree-lined shorelines of time
and soak up the beautiful brackish scents of your company.
If I had one wish
It would be to deny sleep and lie awake in the moonlight or basking in the sunshine of your embrace.
I would encourage my ears to savour the fresh melodies of your laughter
and the calming nectars of your smile.
I would want the gentleness of the waves in your eyes to swaddle me like down blankets.
If I had one wish
It would be to watch old memories come to life like epic ripples of ocean breeze on the soft, firm canvass of your skin.
I would take my time
to breathe you in drop by drop;
and persuade my mind to digest you slowly until the aromas of your touch fill me with delight.
If I had one wish,
it would be to take your hand for a walk and sip cocktails with the warm air and birds of paradise.
I would trace destiny in your palm
so my dreams would always find their way home.
I would armlock time and imagine every wish I could wish and place them before you.
I would hope to stay close enough
for your heart's hands to heal and rejuvenate my soul.
But if I had only one wish,
it would be to hold you
and never let go.
